The maker movement has in common a strong DIY approach, mostly applied to emerging personal and digital fabrication technologies such as 3D printing and laser cutting, as well as open access to information across individuals of the same community and, consequently, across different distributed communities.
Indeed, makerspaces can have a transformative and empowering role by identifying and nurturing individual capabilities for the benefit of the entire.
