Membership

Vulca is more than a network—it’s a European club connecting Fab Labs, makerspaces, and creative communities. We foster meaningful relationships and collaborations, creating a space where members can reconnect, share values, and seize new opportunities. Through events, strategic connections, and initiatives, Vulca empowers its members to drive innovation and make a positive impact across the maker movement.

Connect

We connect members with each other or strategic individuals through direct connections and dedicated seminars, helping them find the perfect partners for projects, residencies, or European initiatives. We ensure the right match because we know our members, understanding the nuances of their needs, and we have been on the ground, building relationships during our tours across Europe. This approach allows us to connect with the right people, fostering meaningful partnerships that drive growth, innovation, and impact within the maker movement.

Yearly seminar

We organise an annual meeting for members to [re]connect and meet others encountered along the way. It’s an opportunity to discuss the network, define strategic directions, and adapt to future needs. Each gathering, hosted by a different member, allows us to strengthen our connections and gain insights into the diverse challenges faced across Europe. Beyond strategy, these meetings provide a unique chance to explore shared themes, celebrate our diversity, and initiate collaborative projects that reflect our common values and innovative spirit.

Create Opportunities

Vulca creates opportunities for members to engage in impactful projects, explore new collaborations, and expand their horizons. By connecting individuals with the right partners and resources, we open doors to residencies, European initiatives, and innovative programs that might otherwise be out of reach. Our network actively scouts for and develops opportunities that empower members to turn their ideas into reality, driving positive change across the maker community in Europe and beyond.

ADVOCATE

Vulca and it’s members actively advocate for the maker movement from local to European level, promoting the value of Fab Labs and makerspaces in education, innovation, and community development. We work to ensure that the voices of makers are heard in policy discussions, supporting initiatives that recognize and empower grassroots creativity and hands-on learning

Membership in practice for one year

Who can become a member?

Membership is open to any individual maker, space, or network actively contributing to the development of connections within Europe.
To join, candidates must demonstrate their commitment during an interview with at least two members of the board.

To become a member of Vulca, you must join one of the three distinct Groups that best represent your role and contribution to the network. Each Group is tailored to different types of members:

  1. Group 1: Individual Makers
This Group is for individual makers, hackers, researchers, artists or anyone that personally contributes and is involved in the European Makers community and who are considered physical entities. As a member, you join based on your personal contributions and involvement in the maker community.
  2. Group 2 : Spaces
This Group is for makerspaces, Fab Labs, and other collaborative environments. These are considered moral entities, meaning the membership is in the name of the space. However, a designated representative must be chosen to attend meetings and represent the space throughout the membership duration.
  3. Group 3 : Networks
This Group is designed for national or regional networks that connect multiple makerspaces or communities. As moral entities, networks must also select a representative who will consistently represent them during meetings and activities.

To join any of these Groups, candidates must demonstrate their commitment to developing connections within Europe through an interview process. The Group you join will shape how you engage with the community and contribute to the wider Vulca network.
